Remedios Varo was a Spanish-Mexican surrealist painter and anarchist. Later in her career, Varo’s characters developed into her emblematic androgynous figures with heart-shaped faces, large and lonely eyes, and the aquiline noses that mimic her own features. These mythical creatures, the misty swirls and eerie distortions of perspective are characteristic of Varo’s unique brand of surrealism.

i’m in the train listening to this and my palms opened up in a pentagram shape and out flew thousands of bats made of silent screams and hellfire. my teeth shattered into shards, my neck twisted like a serpent around its prey. my tongue split into four and i spoke a language only the stars have heard and the void can speak. my eyes spun in my skull until they melted into a primordial ooze and my body began to shift in and out of reality not able to maintain a complete form in this or any other dimension.

did-you-know:

Ancient Egypt was repeatedly attacked by a mysterious army of massive warships. The raiders suddenly showed up around 1250 BCE and continued attacking until they were defeated by Ramesses III. No record of them exists past 1178 BCE, and scholars continue to debate theories about where they went, where they came from, and who they were- so everyone just calls them the Sea Peoples.
